The Fourth Space offers all our Clients the chance to experience inspiring and detailed make overs as well as make up lessons too. A combination of skill, flair, knowledge and experience enables us to ascertain a perfectly tailored look to suit each and every one of our Clients. We pride ourselves on our ability to create a look that is unique to you by listening to and understanding your requirements and aspirations in terms of a look you wish to achieve. We are dedicated and committed to spending between 70-90 mins on each and every make over which always begins with an analysis of your face shape, skin tone, features and flaws concentrating on providing you with a make over that enhances and perfects your face. These make overs are standard throughout every service that we do and are included at the beginning of every single appointment. We never ever rush this stage of your appointment indeed we take great care and attention throughout every different stage taking time to perfect every aspect before moving on to the next stage. As with all our appointments this is a one to one service with no interruptions.
What Makes Our Make Overs Unique?
JoJo’s background as a professional fashion make up artist has enabled her to incorporate a fashion make up philosophy and approach when applied to male to female transformations. By blending the skills learnt on the fashion circuit alongside the elements of traditional camouflage techniques means that she is able to provide make overs to Clients that represent a departure from the stereotypical Drag look that is so often seen. This element is key to what we do here at The Fourth Space and is what we believe sets us apart. By offering Clients a look that is modern, fresh, fashionable and classic means that the results we can achieve for you are outstanding not too mention inspiring, convincing and stunning.
We undertake all our make overs in a fully equipped make up room on a one to one basis with a specifically designed professionally lit make up mirror to ensure that we create the correct environment and ambience needed to perform your make over. This gives you the opportunity to relax and learn and also to enjoy The Fourth Space experience.
What Happens During A Fourth Space Make Over?
Before we start your make over you will be shown to your own private room to prepare and freshen up should you wish. To facilitate your comfort and also to allow you to feel feminine ahead of your make over we provide you with a robe, lingerie and make up cape to slip into for the entirety of the make up session. This keeps you cool and comfortable during your makeover.
Once you are seated comfortably in the make up chair we proceed with an immensely detailed and thorough make over. The main factors that are of particular importance with regards to the make over process are:
- Skin Preparation
We start by priming the skin with moisturizer and other aids that help promote long lasting and even foundation coverage. We use premium brands typically favored by industry professionals in the know.
- Foundation
This is one the most fundamental aspects and a stage that is crucial to get right as without correct foundation coverage the rest of the make up will never look or feel right. With this in mind we take great care in finding a suitable base that reflects both your skin tone and also strength of coverage needed. Alongside this we also take time to tone down and eradicate beard shadow. By using the relevant techniques in conjunction with the right products specifically designed to work on these areas means that we are able to mask even the heaviest and darkest of beard growth. We do not just use the typical brands that are usually aimed at the cross dressing community for our foundation wear. On the contrary – We actually have a wide range of foundation products that we use and as always favour the top end brands that we know work and that are highly effective. Alongside these brands we also use traditional formulas such as Derma Blend which offers long lasting camouflage required to cover any imperfections, flaws and beard shadow in a natural yet effective way. Many years of experimenting with various options available has meant that we have tried and tested a plethora of products out there and as a result have streamlined our collection to bring you the most effective, good quality, skin perfecting, flattering foundations.
- Eyes
Proper eye makeup can totally change your appearance making small eyes appear bigger, close-set eyes wider, etc. We will use eye makeup techniques that really work as well as show you how to choose the correct techniques to use for your eye shape and eye color to ensure your eyes look beautiful, striking and gorgeous. One of the most important areas are the eyebrows and we pay particular attention to this part of your makeover. Clever techniques can conceal and shape your brows to give you a feminine arch, which is a key component in securing a feminine and flattering look. By blending and shading as well as utilizing the full and varied selection from our pro make up palette means that we are able to create outstanding results to really highlight those “windows to the soul”!! This stage of the make over is where you will see a major change in your transformation – indeed you will notice quite a dramatic change in your reflection from here on in and this is where the fun really starts. A wide range of Faux Lashes are used at this stage to add depth to the eyes. We do not go over the top with lashes and steer away from offering the traditional drag look that is so often associated with male to female transformations unless of course you were to particularly request and covet this look. The aim is always to fulfill and portray an image that represents what you, the Client, have in mind. It is our job to endeavor to create this for you and establish looks that not only are you happy with but one that has hopefully superseded your expectations too.
- Lips
There is no doubt that the Lips are the most sensual feature on our face. They play an especially important role while communicating with others as they draw others attention very easily and hence can make or break a look. Therefore it becomes necessary to give careful attention to them when applying lip products. As with all the various stages of you make over we take time and precision over this part too. We begin by evaluating your own lip shape to see if we need to apply correction techniques to enhance and change the shape at all. If we do need to correct then we ensure that we do it in a subtle and natural way so as not to appear artificial and obvious which would result in an unflattering and unfeminine appearance. After this we prep the lip area to obtain a blank colour/canvas on which we then apply the various components necessary to make up the lips. It is not merely a case of slapping on a bit of lippy!! To give the impression of fullness and plump lips then we have some tips and tricks that we practice to maximize your pout. - Shading and Blush
We use blusher and bronzer as well as additional shading techniques to enhance features as well as maximize your feminine look. We can help to change the shape of your face for instance disguising a heavy jaw line or maybe minimizing the appearance of a double chin. This application is of course based the individuals face shape and features and can make all the difference to your final look.
- Hair Styling
We have an excellent range of high quality wigs and hair-pieces to help us select the right colour, length and style for each Client. We have a huge range of styles for you to pick from allowing you the chance to experiment to your hearts content under the helpful guidance of ex model JoJo and Tamara. From short and gamine to long and tousled we specialize in a varied colour spectrum alongside a multitude of hair accessories, which will enliven the overall style and look that we capture. We have spared no expense and have invested heavily in the top brands on the market. All our styles are modern, fresh, fashionable and current and are constantly being added to so that you never tire of what we offer or indeed what is available to you. During the hair styling we actively encourage you to try on as many styles as time allows as it really is an especially great opportunity to gauge what suits you best once you have been expertly and professionally made up which helps you to see you overall look in its entirety. - Nails
We use high quality premium faux nails, which are especially effective, convincing and long lasting. They come in a variety of styles and sizes and add a particularly lovely effect to the overall feel and look of your transformation. We take great care to apply these and fit each nail carefully around the shape of your own nail. These can of course be removed fully after your appointment.

Let us help you to improve and update your technique as well as advise what is hot and what is not!!! We will advise you on what tools and brushes, colours, brands and shades work best on you as well as helping you learn insider information on what is needed to create fabulous looks and make up styles. We will show you how to apply make up throughout the various stages and allow you an insight into understanding tried and tested techniques that are used by professional make up artists. We assist and guide to ensure that you take away some valuable lessons and inspiration – correcting you when mistakes are made. The Fourth Space Make Up Lesson is tailored to your specific requirements. For instance there may be certain elements that you need particular guidance and assistance with. With this in mind we will work with you to understand how best to structure a suitable and relevant appointment for you. In respect to this please do feel free to advise us if you have points requiring particular consideration. If you are looking at developing your skills to venture out regularly this will be best the investment you can make!!
The session lasts 4 hours and includes the following:
- Advice on skincare routine and preparation required for foundation application.
- Assessment of skin tone and discussion on which foundation products will work best for you.
- In depth advice on make up application. We explain in detail every stage of the makeover, including foundation coverage, eyebrow correction, eye make up, lash application, blush and shading techniques, lip lining and lipstick application.
- Alongside this we also refer to the tools and products used to apply the make up. We specify exactly what brushes to use as well as teaching you the correct techniques required at each stage. We show you effective tried and tested application methods used by professionals that really do work.
- We provide a make up template listing the products used and also provide details of where to purchase them. If you need assistance to procure these items then we offer a shopping service to acquire products on your behalf.
- Effective make up removal techniques and which products work best.
- Our standard make up lesson includes photographic stills showing you the process from start to finish. This is produced on to a CD for you.
- You also have the option to upgrade should you wish. Alongside the stills you have the opportunity to have your session filmed. This enables you to have a multi dimensional view in real terms as the make up was applied during your appointment and is supported by a documented overview listing all products and techniques.
